Mats Zuccarello’s debut with the Stars started well and ended…
The former Rangers star will be sidelined for a month after breaking his right arm in his Dallas debut, opting to undergo surgery on Tuesday.
“It just helps it to heal faster. It’s nothing major,” general manager Jim Nill told DallasStars.com. “It was a very clean break and the surgery makes sure it stays in place so it heals faster.”
Zuccarello, a Rangers mainstay since coming to North America for the 2010-11 season, was dealt to the Stars over the weekend, a move that sent plenty of emotion through the Blueshirts’ locker room.
In his first non-Rangers NHL game, the Norwegian added a goal and an assist for Dallas, but left late in the second period after blocking a shot with his arm. The injury will keep him out of the lineup against his former team when the Rangers visit on March 5.
