The Nashville Predators made a really odd banner choice
The Nashville Predators had a great regular season last year. They finished with the best record in the NHL and 117 points.
Then, in the playoffs, they lost. The Winnipeg Jets ousted them in seven games in the Western Conference semifinals. The Vegas Golden Knights ended up winning the Western Conference after defeating the Jets in the next round.
So, to review, the Predators were in no way the Western Conference champions. That was the Golden Knights. Which is why Nashville raised a few eyebrows during its banner night Tuesday.
The left and middle banners are totally fair. Teams raise banners for winning their division all the time. The Presidents’ Trophy, awarded to the team with the best record in the NHL, is an even more banner-worthy feat.
But, “Regular Season Western Conference Champions?” Yeah, that’s not a thing.
