Youth hockey brawl gets so crazy the police had to be called

Hockey players from Russia and Slovakia were involved in a brutal mass-brawl, forcing cops to be called to the rink on Saturday night.

Both players and coaches were involved in the terrible clash, with punches thrown and helmets sent flying.

Hockey sticks were even used to launch a series of horrific blows before police were sent in to intervene. The shocking fight occurred during a tournament in Mogilev, Belarus, over the weekend.

Initially, Russia’s players stood around on the ice with the Slovakians loitering around their bench, off the ice. It’s unclear at this stage what sparked the ludicrous brawl, but suddenly, Russia’s youngsters swarmed the Slovakia bench, with members of both teams going on the offensive.

As sticks were dropped, one player, in particular, can be spotted using his as a weapon to mercilessly batter his opponent. Helmets can be seen spraying and spinning across the ice as things got even more heated, with no end to the brawl in sight.

Russia’s head coach, Vasily Zakrevsky, later went to the police station and is said to have stayed until 4 a.m. to give his testimony.

The fight kicked off just 12 minutes into the game, and it is unclear if the game was ever completed.
