EAT-lancet Commission on food, planet and health that brings together world leading scientists to define a healthy and sustainable diet has published a detailed study that prescribes the ‘ideal diet’ that one needs to consume.

To ensure that a planet with 10 billion people living on it can survive till 2050, the commission has recommended consumption of approximately 35 percent of calories as whole grains and tubers, protein sources mainly from plants, but also includes approximately 14 grams of red meat per day and 500 grams per day of vegetables and fruits.
