Jorgensen to start, Edmed at 12 as Waratahs named Brumbies trial squad

The NSW Waratahs are set to unleash exciting teenager Max Jorgensen and the returning Nemani Nadolo during Saturday's trial against the Brumbies in Griffith.Jorgensen, who travelled with Australia A to Japan, will line up at fullback for the first half, with Nadolo set to join him on the wing.Meanwhile, Ben Donaldson will get first shot at the flyhalf position, pushing Tane Edmed to inside centre following his remarkable 2022 campaign.The pair alternated throughout last season, with Donaldson also slated to spend time at fullback during the second half.Waratahs coach Darren Coleman has also named Lachie Swinton (neck) to start at blindside flanker, his first match in almost 12 months, joined by Charlie Gamble and Will Harris.“After 13 solid training weeks, the staff and players are super excited to finally play some rugby,” Coleman said in a statement“I feel we’re in a different stage of our development than this trial last year, we’ve had a lot more time together and boys have greater clarity in how we want to play."Former Wallaby Tolu Latu headlines the inclusions for the second half with a number of Wallabies unavailable.Latu will slot into hooker, joined in the front row by Glasgow recruit Tom Lambert and Tiaan Tauakipulu.Breakout star Langi Gleeson will play number eight, whilst Junior Wallabies duo Teddy Wilson and Ben Dowling join Jack Bowen in a youthful backline.“These trials are a great opportunity to reward the boys who have worked hard through thepre-season, get them some game time, and allow them to compete for round one spots," Coleman added.“The Brumbies as always will be a stern test and a great way to kick off our run of pre-season fixtures.”The match against the ACT Brumbies will be streamed live on BarTVWARATAHS 1st HALF TEAM1.
