Ligue 1 side Bordeaux have entered into negotiations with Norwegian side Rosenborg for 29-year-old Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner, according to L’Équipe.
After Rennes signed West Ham striker Diafra Sakho yesterday, Bordeaux have also dropped out of the race to sign Martin Braithwaite, after it became apparent that Middlesbrough were going to insist on a straight transfer this month or no deal at all.
So now, we turn to Bendtner, who finished the most recent Norwegian football season as the league’s top-scorer with 19 goals.
New manager Gus Poyet has encouraged the Bordeaux board to go after the former Arsenal man, with Bendtner wanting to ensure a place in Denmark’s World Cup side.
Bordeaux are going to seek an initial loan deal with Rosenborg, even though the club’s board are not fully convinced that this is the player they need.
