England: Eddie Jones to take squad to Jersey in preparation for Autumn Nations Series clashes

England are set to spend five days in Jersey in late October as they are put through their paces ahead of their Autumn Nations Series matches.

The visit to the Channel Islands sees Eddie Jones’ charges arrive on October 26 and they will be based at Championship outfit Jersey Reds.

England will face Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa in their end-of-year internationals as they build towards a World Cup year.

Crucial preparation

“We’re looking forward to getting started and these camps will be crucial preparation for big games this autumn,” said England head coach Jones.

“We have 13 Tests before the World Cup so each game is a great learning opportunity and a chance to keep moving forward for this young team. It’s vital that we keep building our cohesion and adapting tactically.

“We enjoyed our time in Jersey last year, it has excellent facilities and the island is a great setting for a productive training camp.

“It helped us lay the foundations for a successful autumn campaign and we want for more of the same this year.”

Warm-up for World Cup

England will also face the Pumas and Brave Blossoms in their opening two games at the Rugby World Cup, which takes place in France next year.

They will therefore get a good look at their opposition in 2023 before they face the All Blacks on November 19 and then the Springboks one week later.

“Our game is based on the traditional strengths of set-piece and physicality so we are aiming to set the tone in November, starting with an impressive Argentina team,” Jones added.
