Impact Announces New Redemption PPV Main Event After Alberto El Patron Firing, The Latest On Patron’s Situation

As we noted last night, Impact Wrestling released Alberto El Patron after the former Champion failed to appear at weekend live events as advertised.

As a result of El Patron’s firing, the main event of the upcoming April 22nd Redemption PPV has been changed to a Triple Threat Title match featuring Austin Aries vs Rey Fenix vs Pentagon, Jr. The original main event for the PPV was Aries defending against El Patron.

With regards to El Patron, we noted last night that Impact decided to release the former Champion when he failed to appear at weekend events, including the big Impact vs Lucha Underground Twitch event on Friday night. According to PWInsider.com, the reason for El Patron’s absence this weekend remains unconfirmed, but some sources are claiming El Patron just no-showed the events without advanced warning. At one point Impact officials became worried about El Patron, and there was even talk at one point of calling the police to check on him.
