Mikael Granlund traded while fianc\u00e9e was in labor
No one had a more eventful trade-deadline day than newly acquired Predators forward Mikael Granlund.
After the Minnesota Wild sent Granlund to Nashville on Monday, in exchange for winger Kevin Fiala, it was revealed the 26-year-old’s fiancée, Emmi Kainulainen, was in labor.
“The Granlunds are honestly in labor right now, so to have this happen makes it even more difficult to disrupt people’s lives,” said Wild general manager Paul Fenton, according to USA Today.
Granlund signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Wild back in 2012. He re-signed with the team in 2017 for a three-year, $17.25 million contract. He has 15 goals and 49 points this season.
Granlund’s future wife has yet to post an update on social media, but last showed off her baby bump on Feb. 17.
“Ok bebe, stop hiding I’m ready to meet you already ♡♡♡♡♡ Also, this hairstyle is called ’heart’ #9monthspreggo,” Kainulainen wrote.
