Marseille’s Eric Bailly will not feature against Lorient due to suspension

As reported by L’Équipe, defender Eric Bailly will still be serving his suspension following his red card picked up in Marseille’s win in the Coupe de France against FC Hyères (2-0). He served an automatic one-game suspension against FC Troyes, during which the Olympians came out as 2-0 winners.

Against Lorient he will still be temporarily suspended whilst the discipline board of the French Football Federation look to take a decision next Thursday on whether to further punish the player. He could face up to six games suspended, as reported by RMC Sport earlier this month.

His suspension followed a tackle which managed to seriously hospitalise his opponent Almike Moussa N’Diaye, who was admitted into intensive care as a precaution. Bailly, who is on loan at Marseille from Premier League side Manchester United, will have only served two of a potential 4-6 game ban for his high-footed tackle.
