Sean Avery isn’t here for Islanders fans’ disrespect of John Tavares

Sean Avery is trying to take John Tavares’ place as the most hated hockey player on Long Island.

The former Rangers forward, who retired in 2012 after years as one of the league’s most reviled players, blasted Islanders fans in a profanity-laced video he posted Friday for their treatment of their former captain in his return to Nassau Coliseum with the Maple Leafs Thursday night.

“F—ing New York Islanders fans calling John Tavares a snake, throwing snakes on the ice. Who the f— are they kidding?” Avery ranted. “That guy played 10 years in that f—ing dump with those sh—y fans, didn’t say a word, was a great captain, never got arrested, didn’t say f—ing boo. You losers want to ruin his night coming back to play for you guys.”

Avery, 38, then rhetorically asked Islanders fans how Tavares should have handled his final season with the team that drafted him first overall in 2009, before signing with the team he cheered on as a child.

“What was he supposed to do, lie during the season?” Avery said. “Or was he supposed to give the answer that all athletes give when they know they’re not coming back to a team?”

Avery, who spent parts of six seasons with the Rangers, closed with a parting shot at the former rival, and the rekindled love affair with the Coliseum.

“You f—ing greasy Islander f—s, you guys get out-cheered in your own barn by Rangers fans every time the Rangers play the Islanders in Long Island,” Avery said. “F— you.”
